Avenue K - Style Has A New Address

Located near the Petronas Twin Towers, which is a landmark in Kuala Lumpur, this new shopping mall is the meeting place for many on their way to and from work.

The area surrounding Avenue K has more of a village feel to it than a shopping district. This may be due to Malaysian ways being different when it comes to shopping than the Americans for example. Our shopping experience is more of a social gathering than shopping. The groups that meet at the shopping malls are there more for the socializing than the shopping.

Although there are many boulevards and streets lined with shopping outlets in Kuala Lumpur, this is an addition of the social outlets of the people in KL. With shops like Gucci, Prada, and Toys ’r’ Us, Avenue K is high on the list of many shoppers.

The concourse and upper concourse are below ground level. This will also be home for a supermarket and several restaurants. The upper concourse will be Asian food restaurants and will feature kiosks. Fashion will claim it’s spot on the third level which actually will be the ground level. Coffee bars, the Soho Grappa restaurant and newspaper stands, Manhattan-style will be the feature draw on the this level.

This level will also be the branded boutiques which cater to the more affluent. Accessible by an elevator from the ground floor, this floor will also have an upscale restaurant and hair styling saloon.

The next level, which is the mezzanine will be for the working class and have fashion items that are affordable for their needs. Here the children’s theme takes over with a toy store, children’s fashions and a play area. The shops for the sports minded as well as a plasma tv showing all your favorite sports.

The third and fourth levels are going to be the happening spot for a bar, nightclub, and a spas for the ladies. Fine dining and exhibition halls will top off this level. The shopping mall has eight levels and parking to accommodate the largest crowds.

For upscale shopping and the finest dining Avenue K, will be the ‘in’ place to be for the up and coming crowd in KL.
